so rush says take they will pass health care with public option by next Thursday
by attaching it to 2 bills and then reforming it with a third bill
and we will wake up one morning and have health care with a public option

BLOG

THIS IS MORE THAN I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT IS HARD TO GET TO
WHY WOULD I DO THIS

9-30-09 my first thought

I never have talked about my feelings before .
But this is scary times for some .I'm not much for punctuation so bear witht me. People with fears of today are brought apond because of the government like health care will older people like my self get it .Will my kids be taxed to death , Because of me .Will the freedoms that i have grown up with be gone . Will we have to start this government all over again .Are you willing to loose every thing and start over again to be free. The time will tell when 2010 election start and November comes can we change what we have done .I don't blame the Presitent for this as i do the congress and senate . We must have change in these parts . We need health care change .But not on the back of each others expense. But in insurance change ,let companies across state lines . Pay the doctor bill your self. If we are not careful how we do this. We will loose good doctors and not start good kids in the field of medicine.Tthat will cost us dearly . So i have rambled on now . So it time to go to work so i can pay for your all taxes.

do you belive the govenment or will we see people get sick

ATLANTA — The E. coli bacteria level in the Chattahoochee River, which is the drinking water source for more than 3.5 million people, including 70 percent of the people in metro Atlanta, recently tested 42 times greater than the highest safe level, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said in a September 27 article.

Federal officials have been routinely sampling the river following record flooding in the region.

Sally Bethea of the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper organization reported the extremely high level of E. coli bacteria in the water detected during the sampling. She said, “There is no way you want to get in or even touch water [this dirty]. I’ve never seen the water so filthy. It was just filthy, and it didn’t smell very good in some places.”

Sampling of source water and drinking water continues. In a September 28 report on 11Alive.com, reporters said, “We have now received the results from the state’s early samples that show the fecal count at the Atlanta drinking water intake [on the Chattahoochee River] was 25 percent above acceptable limits. … However, officials tell us the drinking water is still safe except in areas that have a boil advisory in effect.”

The city’s R.M. Clayton sewage treatment plant, which was swamped by the flood, is partially able to treat waste entering the facility. However, the plant has been inundated with trash brought in by the high water. City officials have not yet announced when the plant will resume full operation, the Journal-Constitution reported.

Janet Ward, with the city’s Watershed Management Department, called on the public to “stop dumping trash in the streets” that would enter the plant from storm drains.

Tim Cash with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division said in the Journal-Constitution article that samples of the river’s water following the flooding “showed the water remains capable of supporting life despite the flood of sewage” because so much water was flushing through the system. He said the main risk to the public from the river is the potential for pathogens, a risk that becomes more pronounced as the floodwaters recede and flows return to normal.

funny

This is a joke, I hope.
A DC airport ticket agent offers some examples of 'why' our country is in trouble!

1.I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman (Carol Shea-Porter) ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window. (On an airplane!)

2.I got a call from a Kansas Congressman's (Moore) staffer (Howard Bauleke), who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, and then he interrupted me with, ''I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in
Massachusetts .''

Without trying to make him look stupid, I calmly explained, ''
Cape Cod is inMassachusetts , Capetown is in Africa ''

his response -- click.

3. A senior Vermont Congressman (Bernie Sanders) called, furious about a
Floridapackage we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando . He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that's not possible, sinceOrlando is in the middle of the state.

He replied, 'don't lie to me, I looked on the map and
Florida is a very thin state!'' (OMG)

4. I got a call from a lawmaker's wife (Landra Reid) who asked, ''Is it possible to see
England from Canada ?''

I said, ''No.''

She said, ''But they look so close on the map.'' (OMG, again!)

5.An aide for a cabinet member (Janet Napolitano) once called and asked if he could rent a car in
Dallas . I pulled up the reservation and noticed he had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas . When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, ''I heardDallas was a big airport, and we will need a car to drive between gates to save time.'' (Aghhhh)

6.An Illinois Congresswoman (Jan Schakowsky) called last week. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from
Detroit left at 8:30 a.m., and got toChicago at 8:33 a.m.

I explained that
Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois , but she couldn't understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that.

7. A
New York lawmaker, (Jerrold Nadler) called and asked, ''Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?'' I said, 'No, why do you ask?'

He replied, ''Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I'm overweight. I think that's very rude!''

After putting him on hold for a minute, while I looked into it. (I was dying laughing). I came back and explained the city code for
Fresno , Ca. is (FAT - Fresno Air Terminal), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on his luggage..

8. A Senator John Kerry aide (Lindsay Ross) called to inquire about a trip package to
Hawaii . After going over all the cost info, she asked, ''Would it be cheaper to fly toCalifornia and then take the train to Hawaii ?''

9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman, Bobby Bright (D) from
Alawho asked, ''How do I know which plane to get on?''

I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, ''I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them.''

10. Senator Dianne Feinstein called and said, ''I need to fly to
Pepsi-Cola , Florida . Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?''

I asked if she meant fly to
Pensacola , FL on a commuter plane.

She said, ''Yeah, whatever, smarty!''

11. Mary Landrieu, La. Senator, called and had a question about the documents she needed in order to fly to
China . After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded her that she needed a visa. 'Oh, no I don't. I've been to China many times and never had to have one of those.''

I double checked and sure enough, her stay required a visa. When I told her this she said, ''Look, I've been to
China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express!''

12. A New Jersey Congressman (John Adler) called to make reservations, ''I want to go from
Chicago to Rhino, New York .''

I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, ''Are you sure that's the name of the town?''

'Yes, what flights do you have?'' replied the man.

After some searching, I came back with, ''I'm sorry, sir, I've looked up every airport code in the country and can't find a rhino anywhere."

''The man retorted, ''Oh, don't be silly! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!''

So I scoured a map of the state of
New York and finally offered, ''You don't meanBuffalo, do you?''

The reply? ''Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.''

Now you know why the Government is in the shape that it's in!

Could anyone be this DUMB?

YES, THEY WALK AMONG US, ARE IN POLITICS, AND THEY CONTINUE TO BREED.

I don't write it, I just offer it for your consideration. Like manure, you just gotta spread it around.

GREEN WATER

ARLINGTON, VA — New seawater desalination technology is on tap for some US military forces afloat and ashore as well as for some humanitarian missions, according to a September 23 press release from the US Navy’s Office of Naval Research (ONR).

In the release, the ONR said it is sponsoring the “development of an innovative solution for generating potable water at twice the efficiency of current production” for forces afloat, Marine Corps expeditionary forces and humanitarian missions ashore.

Dr. J. Paul Armistead, an ONR program officer with interests in water purification, is quoted as saying, “We plan to build prototype desalination units that will use 65 percent less energy and be 40 percent smaller by weight and by volume relative to current Navy reverse osmosis systems. They should require roughly 75 percent less maintenance.”

Delivering drinkable water for ships at sea and Marines ashore for less cost and less energy became an ONR priority in 2004 under the Expeditionary Unit Water Purification Program, or EUWP.

Since its inception, the EUWP program has produced advances in desalinization capability. The first-generation EUWP technology demonstrator was designed as a deployable high water production unit more easily transported by the military and used for a variety of missions.

A more efficient onboard desalinization plant translates into a more efficient ship, which uses less fuel, extends combat capability and reduces its carbon footprint, the release said.

According to Armistead, “From current Navy desalination systems we only get 20 percent product water. … These new systems will likely double that.”

Other experts familiar with the project said technology advancements the ONR develops are directly applicable ashore and have the potential for commercialization.

GREEN WATER COOL

PHILADELPHIA — This city has proposed tackling its combined-sewer overflow problems with a $1.6 billion, 20-year plan that would use rain gardens, green roofs, thousands of additional trees, rain-harvesting barrels and porous pavement, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported September 27.

Environmental experts and federal regulators are reviewing the 3,369-page plan put forth by the Philadelphia Water Department.

The green capture plan is being hailed as one of the most ambitious ideas to reduce combined sewer overflows and increase “green” living of a major metropolitan area. According to the plan, runoff is reduced, diverted or filtered by layers of soil and plant root systems. The Inquirer reported, “Some areas would temporarily store runoff until the stress of the storm on the combined sewer system is reduced and the water can then be treated in the sewer treatment plants.”

Jon Capacasa, regional director of water protection for the US Environmental Protection Agency, is quoted saying, “This is the most significant use of green infrastructure I've seen in the country, the largest scale I’ve seen. We commend Philadelphia for breaking the ice.” The EPA has final say on whether the plan would effectively deal with the stormwater.

Thank you for contacting me regarding the impacts of global climate change. I appreciate your thoughts and concerns on this issue.

I am deeply concerned about the threat posed by global climate change. The scientific consensus on this issue is unequivocal. Global warming is real and greenhouse gas emissions from human activity are causing it. Scientists and others warn that climate change threatens our nation's security, and may imperil future generations' opportunity for safe, healthy, and prosperous lives.

However, any carbon-constraining mechanism must protect Hoosier ratepayers, workers and businesses from increased costs. Additionally, other nations of the world must be included in this effort, because if they are not, our action will be for naught.

Please rest assured, should legislation regarding global climate change be introduced in the 111th Congress, I will keep your views in mind.

Again, thank you for contacting me. I hope the information I have provided is helpful. My website, http://bayh.senate.gov, can provide additional details about legislation and state projects, and you can also sign up to receive my monthly e-newsletter, The Bayh Bulletin, by clicking on the link at the top of my homepage. More help for home buyers?More Help for Homebuyers?

An $8,000 tax credit for new homebuyers will expire in a few weeks unless Congress extends it. One thing that could draw the attention of lawmakers back to the credit: Home sales dipped in August, the first drop after several months of steady improvement. Earlier this month, the Internal Revenue Service calculated that 1.4 million households had taken advantage of the credit so far.

Talk Back to Congress

Lawmakers have generally been in favor of the program, which is open to anyone who has now owned a "principal residence" during the past three years.
Several bills have been introduced to extend the credit past the Nov. 30 deadline.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has endorsed a bill that would extend it into June, but the Senate committee responsible for moving the bill along hasn't scheduled a hearing yet because it's been busy with the health care bill.

What Do You Think?

Gallup recently asked 1,053 adults around the country for their views on sending more troops to Afghanistan.

How would you have answered?

Last week, we asked for your thoughts about missile defense in Europe.

Seventy-four percent of Congress.org subscribers who answered the question said they disagreed with President Barack Obama's decision to halt deployment of a missile shield. By contrast, only 38 percent of respondents in a scientifically conducted poll felt the same way.

Remember that while Internet questions are a good test of the intensity of feelings on a subject, they are not valid measures of broader public opinion.
